Welcome to Reception
New Starters September 2024
We would like to welcome you all to Whitchurch CE Infant and Nursery Academy.
We have created this website page to provide all prospective new parents with the necessary information about our Academy and what we have to offer your child starting in our Reception classes, as well as providing all the essential details regarding the planned transition arrangements that we have put in place for this Summer Term and for September.
Please also explore our entire website for further information about our Federation of Academies.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you and your child in person and officially welcoming you to Whitchurch CE Infant and Nursery Academy in the near future.
Welcome information for our new starters and their family
Initial Visits
Our Early Years Lead, Mrs Emma Coxon, will be making arrangements to visit your child at their pre-school setting in June. The purpose of this visit will be to get to know your child, to learn about their interests and to liaise with Nursery/ Pre-School staff before initial transition visits to school.
Transition Timetable
Below is our proposed transition timetable.
Tuesday 25th June: Visiting your child in their current Early Years Setting
We will aim to see your child in their current setting and chat with their familiar adults. If your child does not attend a setting on these days we will arrange a phone call with the setting.
Wednesday 27th June 5.00pm: Welcome Presentation meeting for Parents
During the meeting you be given information to support you in equipping your child to be prepared for school.
Transition visit to school (Details of timings and arrangements will be forwarded separately once dates are confirmed)
An opportunity for your child to experience a day in school.
Tuesday 11th July 4.00-4.40: Story session in the bell tent and a visit to the forest
This is an opportunity to listen to a story with your child’s new teacher. There will also be a take away activity to complete at home providing a smooth link between school and home. An adult will need to stay with your child for the duration of the event.
We want to ensure that children have a smooth and confident start to school. We hope that our proposed timetable allows children to ease their way into school, become familiar with their surroundings, get to know their teacher and teaching assistants in Reception, meet their new classmates, establish new routines and develop confidence at Whitchurch CE Infant and Nursery Academy.
